Let's Change the Conversation About School Data
Written by Jessica Lane
If you've followed my work with Data-Informed Impact at all, you know I’m pretty obsessed with one big question: How do we make data actually helpful for teachers, instead of just another thing to dread? I’ve spent my career trying to answer that, and what I know for sure is that it all comes down to trust, collaboration, and a people-first approach.
A Shared Philosophy
That’s why joining forces with Symplifyed feels like the most natural next step. I found a partner (Jenelle) who’s not just asking the same questions I am, but is all-in on building a real, no-fluff answer. This isn't just a new job for me; it’s about finally putting our shared philosophy into action.
What I'm Fired Up About
So, what am I so excited to build? It really boils down to three things:
First, our shared obsession with Clarity. My brain is wired for seeing the big, school-wide picture, and the work here is all about connecting that view to what a teacher actually needs on a Tuesday morning. I’m so excited to be working toward bridging that gap.
Next up is our focus on Connection. Let’s be honest, data meetings can be the worst. But they don’t have to be. I’m thrilled to be building a platform that’s designed to bring people together and turn data into something that sparks positive, helpful conversations.
And finally, it’s all about creating Momentum. Nothing feels better than knowing what you’re doing is actually working. I love that we’re focused on helping educators see and celebrate their progress, because that’s where real confidence comes from.
The Perfect Mix
What makes the approach here so special is the mix of perspectives. My experience with big-picture systems is the perfect match for Jenelle’s deep understanding of what it’s like in the classroom every single day (I have classroom experience too, but mine is secondary and hers is elementary; it’s perfect). And as Director of Analytics and Integration, I get to help blend all of that together.
This is way more than a new role for me. It’s a chance to do the work I’ve always believed in, with a partner who gets it. I honestly can’t wait to see what we build together.
PS: I’ll be continuing to contribute to our blog, so be on the look out!
